This Privacy Policy explains how DolphinUp ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the dolphinup.com website and language-learning service (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

When you sign in with a third-party identity provider (for example, Google), we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique identifier for your account. We do not receive your password.
We collect and store the content you create or submit — grammar collections, lessons, example sentences, feedback posts, your learning progress, and your settings (such as language pair, theme, and interface preferences).
We automatically collect limited technical data needed to run and secure the Service, such as your approximate country (derived from your IP address by our network provider), browser and device type, and basic usage events. We use this to deliver the Service, choose sensible defaults, and protect against abuse.
For each device you sign in on we keep the IP address that device was last seen from, the browser and operating system it reports, and when it was last active. We keep this for as long as that sign-in session is valid, and we show it back to you on your profile page so you can recognise your own devices and sign out any you do not. Signing a device out, or letting its session expire, removes it from that list.
We also store a random identifier that your browser or app generates for itself. It is not derived from your hardware and tells us nothing about your device; its only purpose is that signing in again from the same browser or app replaces that device's earlier session instead of adding another entry to your list. It is never shown to you or to anyone else, and it is deleted along with the session it belongs to. If two people sign in on the same device, their sessions carry the same identifier.
To understand how the Service is used we run our own analytics on our own servers, rather than a third-party advertising analytics product. It records page views and basic technical attributes (such as browser, device type, screen size, referring site and approximate country). It sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build an advertising profile of you.
If you buy a subscription, the payment is processed by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record. You enter your card or other payment details directly with that provider — we never receive or store them. We receive only what we need to give you access and keep records: the fact of a purchase, the plan, the status and renewal date of your subscription, and the billing country for tax purposes.
We use the information we collect to:
Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Service and prevent abuse); your consent where we ask for it; and compliance with legal obligations.

Much of what you contribute is public by design. Shared collections and feedback posts are visible to other users and may be reused as described in our Terms of Service. Please do not include sensitive personal information in content you make public. Your email address is not shown publicly.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:
The Service is available internationally, and your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection for such transfers.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. As explained in our Terms, Contributions that have become part of shared or public collections, or that have been copied, aggregated, anonymized, or turned into derivative works, may be retained after your account ends.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update many settings directly in the app.
You can permanently delete your account yourself at any time from your Profile page ("Delete account"). When you do, we erase or anonymize your personal information — including your name, email, profile, and learning progress — cancel any active subscription, and sign you out of all devices. As explained under "Data Retention" and in our Terms, Contributions you made to shared or public collections are kept but are no longer linked to your identity (they appear as authored by a deleted user). If you want those contributions removed as well, delete them yourself before deleting your account. This is immediate and cannot be undone. You may also contact us at support@dolphinup.com to make a request or ask a question, and we will respond consistently with applicable law.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at support@dolphinup.com and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure authentication and encrypted transport. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service may link to or rely on third-party websites and services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
This Policy is written in English, which is the authoritative and binding version. Any translation is provided for your convenience only; if there is any conflict, the English version prevails.
